Most people do not know what successful people do to have such a relaxed manner and be so extremely succesful. I want to share with you ideas from Shad Helmstetter, the author of the book What to Say when you talk to yourself that might help you to become more successful. So enjoy the article. My Twelve Best Ideas for Being Successful by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D. 1. Set specific goals and action steps, and write them down.The single most important step in getting somewhere is knowing where you are going and having a plan for getting there. Your goals have to be written out, and so does your plan. Be specific, date each goal and each step on your action plan. Then follow it. 2. Read and review your goals daily.This one could change your life. Keep your goals in front of you. Always know what you plan to do next. And always take the action your plan calls for. Review your goals, review your plan, change them as necessary, and stay with it. It only takes two or three minutes each morning to read your goals and glance over your plans. Yo are going to spend the next 24 hours that day doing something; you might as well be doing something that counts. 3. Set daily priorities.Your goals and action plan will tell you what to do. Next, put your priorities in order. If you make a list, keep it short. 4. Change your old programs by learning new Self-Talk.Get rid of any old mental programs that could be holding you back. Listen to Self-Talk, practice it, and get it right. Your programs will determine whether you reach your goal or not. 5. Turn off the television.The less television you watch, the more successful you will be. Most television wastes your time, while it programs your mind with the wrong input to be successful. Do your future and your family a favor. As much as you can, break the habit, spend your time doing something of value, and turn the television OFF. 6. Practice, every day, keeping a positive attitude.Your attitude actually affects the biochemistry of your brain. A bad attitude turns your success switches off. A good attitude turns them on. Never listen to the negative opinions of others, and make the choice to eliminate negativity from your life completely. A good attitude is not an accident; it is a habit and a skill that you have to build for yourself. Practice going through life with your success switches being turned on. 7. Associate with people who are more successful than you are.We become most like the people we spend our time with most. Seek out the successful people; people of quality, honor, integrity, and achievement. Spend time with them in person. Listen to them on tape. Or read their stories in books. We get the most from the people who have the most to give. 8. Live your life based on values.Your values are the pages on which the story of your life will be written. Practice the values of honesty, integrity, trust, determination, compassion, patience, personal responsibility, the willingness to work, and the courage to endure. All lasting success is built on positive values. 9. Practice your faith.In the lives of people who are truly successful in every way, you will always find a foundation of faith. If you want to live your life at your best, practice your faith. Not just an hour a week. Every day. 10. Make the choice to believe in yourself and in your future.Believing in yourself is a choice. The people who are the most successful learn to tell themselves they can do it. Practice believing in yourself. Practice telling yourself you can do it; no matter how difficult, no matter what it takes. You have got what it takes. You can do it! You are capable of more than you have ever imagined! Now tell yourself that. 11. Do at least two things each day to improve yourself.This is one of the top ideas on every achievers list of how to be successful. If you want to get more successful, you have to learn more. Each day, think of two simple things you can do to improve yourself that day. Set some goals about this one. Take small steps. Read something. Listen to something new. Learn something. If you want your life to get better, you have to start by improving yourself, first. 12. Never quit. Never Stop. Never give up!If you want to be successful at anything, be determined, persevere, stay with it, refuse to give in, do not hesitate, do not hold back, and do not quit until the job is done. If it has not worked yet, try harder. This decision is a big step for a home business. Certainly because most of the home businesses start very small. You are doing all of the work alone by yourself. Doing so you have total control over every aspect of your business. Because you are just one person, and because you are a human, you can only do as much as you can alone. It does not matter how good you get at your job: you are going to hit the ceiling as far as how much money you can make on your own. Or do you think you can keep on improving the amount of work you can do? When this happens, you have two choices. You can either be content with the amount of money you can make by yourself, or you can begin to outsource your work, and make even more profit. This Is How It Normally Works You first start thinking that you are going to lose money by having others do it, because you will have to pay them. But, you have to look at what you by yourself can accomplish. If you can produce 100 units of whatever you sell per week, that means that each person you hire can produce 100 units. Even if you have to pay each person that works for you a percentage of the 100 units that you sell because of them, you are getting money for them working for you. You can take so many more orders. The best way to outsource is to find people who are just breaking into whatever field your business is located in. They will be willing to work for less money than you do. They mostly are just starting out. How it works is that you hire them, and then you continue to take orders as you always have. Expect that if you have hired 10 people you can now produce 1000 of whatever you are making instead of simply 100. While you pay the people a percentage of what you make on the units, you keep the rest as profits. This is the best way to build your profits up, and to build your business as well. The longer you do this, the more and more orders you are going to be able to get. That means that you can have more employees. As long as you are good at organizing invoices and payment schedules, you can become the head of a huge corporation while outsourcing your work, and make even more money instead of employing yourself. When you are first starting out, you might decide that you want your business to be at your home do you not? It then means that your office would be at home and you would be dealing with all of your customers through your home. Sometimes this makes sense, because you really can get a lot done and you can really take the time to be at home. That means that you can also take the time to do other things that you have always wanted to do. However, there might come a point when your business has grown. Or you are ready to move further forward with your business. When this happens you might decide that renting out office space is your best option when it comes to answer the question where your business your business should be located. Then there comes the question. Why should you Rent?There are many reasons that you might want to think about renting out your office space. First of all, renting is not permanent. If you can find the right kind of lease, you can pretty much determine what period you keep your office there and when you are done there and it is time to move on. If you are on a month to month lease, it will mean that if you ever decide you want to move your business back to your home, or change locations, it is fairly easy to do so. And it does not require a lot of work. You can see the point? But, this is only one of the advantages to renting your office space. Another thing that can be great about renting your office space is that this is relatively cheap. It can usually be written off as a business expense. Is it not so that you will find there is little to no worry about what you are doing and where the money to do it is coming from? You can always find office space quite cheap. And it can be a good way to get your business farther along. A next good thing to having your home business located in an office is that you are renting. It is often too easy to work too much if you have a home business. In that case you can always go to your home office and work. This might be good for some jobs. If you however find that you are taking time away from your family, and you are working too often, it is a good thing moving your office to a rented space, do you not think? It certainly is a great way to make sure that your home business hours do not take over your whole life. Won’t you see your children grow up and be with your spouse? If you find that you are having trouble not working for 24 hours straight, moving to a rented office is a great way to stop this. Is the market for your services still out there? Are you not getting the business like you did before? Maybe it is time for a change or just some revamping what you already have. Be aware of all the changes in your business. Check out the basics regularly and see if they can be improved. Is your web site and/or brochure still colourful and interesting? Do they really focus on your business and it's services like you provide at that time? That can be okay. But the next and very important question is whether it really provides an understanding of a client's concerns or issues. Try reading them as being a client, instead of a business owner you are. Ask yourself: Would I use this business based on the brochure or website or would I recommend it to someone else? Another area to examine is your marketing team. Do they explain your services in depth? Are you matching your competitors? Are your marketers "cold" calling new prospects each month? Do they continue to follow up with them on a regular basis? Are they building relationships with new people before trying to sell anything? What makes your company with your employers so unique that people come to you when they need anything? It is more important to focus on solving the client's issues and situations, than making your company look good. Your client comes to you for help if you can give him the trust that you deliver what you have promissed. Advertising is another area to check for "staleness". Is it flashy and very loud? Is it bland and boring? Shake it up a little bit. Client testimonies with a ring of honest, are very good for good advertising. Pictures of finished projects speak volumes and quality about your work. Another avenue to use is having someone from your marketing or sales team present papers at various business related events. The paper doesn't have to be specifically about your company. The importance of it is that your company name gets out there to the public. When giving a paper, just make sure it is not loaded with facts and figures. Instead of that establish a mutual understanding of the issue of a potential client. If your business has been revamped and you are not bringing in the clientele that you were prior to the need to revamp, then maybe it's time to consider a change in the products or services that you offer. It may be beneficial to you to add a small service to your original company. This small increase maybe the key to returning the customers to your front door. It also is possible that you are offering services that are time consuming, that are not necessary, and do not bring in the revenue that you want. These are services that you might consider to drop from your business. Revamping your personal business maybe just what you need to return bring in return customers or bring in new customers. It may also bring the business out of the financial slump you are in. This may be your chance to feel rejuvenated and get excited about owning your own business again. For me, I couldn't stand working 12+ hours a day anymore and missing the experience of my children growing up. That was my carrot and my stick. I felt a great pain deep in my gut of missing out on my children's lives and the incredible freedom that succeeding in this business would provide for me.
